Ubuntu Server

I have never had more of a headache, then trying to install Ubuntu server. All in the pain, I guess. Either way, it is up, and running.

If I had to do it all over, I think I'd forget about trying to get a virtual desktop with VNC, and stick to PuTty, as it is easier to manipulate with. Not for the faint of heart, though. Putty uses the command line interface, making the user remember all the stuff prior to GUI days.

But, all in all, the server works well, for being on a system with limited resources. It provides a web server, an SMB server, and an SQL server. When I get the chance, I will be adding a print server to the list.

I'm also thinking of changing how this WordPress is presented, giving it it's own address. Being how Apache2 has the ability to create virtual hosts, and use the forwarded URL to tell which virtual host should respond to the request, makes it easy. My fiancée just got a web site, using the same server as mine, but using a different virtual host.

I am going to look, soon, to see if I can find a web browser that will run under terminal. If so, I should be able to remove the Gnome-core package, and the VNC server, as they'll be useless. A file browser would be nice, too . . . but not going to push my luck.
